Behind CROSSCHECK

My desire for enhanced flight safety

Hi, I'm Mike Clegg, I have held a PPL since 1995 flying Piper trainers, Cherokee 140's and Cessna 172's, a few microlights and hang gliders.

Flying competes for attention with all the other things going on in my life and it's hard to achieve enough airtime to remain current.

So when I approach the aircraft on the apron for my next flight, I'm often feeling a little bit nervous and a bit out of practice.

To counter those feelings, some years ago I developed a written, laminated checklist to guide me through pre-start routines, run-ups, and takeoffs. I found it very useful in calming me down and making me attend to the basics. However, this checklist often rested on the passenger seat amongst charts and clipboards, not readily accessible and forcing me to glance down repeatedly, a less-than-ideal scenario and prone to errors.

From Pilot to Innovator

The CROSSCHECK solution

Motivated by a desire to enhance my flying experience, I created CROSSCHECK.

Velcro mounted on top of the dashboard, CROSSCHECK provides instant access to the comprehensive checklists at every stage of the flight. This setup allows me to maintain situational awareness by keeping my focus outside the aircraft, eliminating the need to glance down or manage loose pages. And as CROSSCHECK ensures completion of all check items, I know I am good to go.

With CROSSCHECK, I can confidently focus on flying, ensuring peace of mind throughout every flight.
